Market Prices

Markets: Bitcoin slipped about 2% on the week and briefly touched $80,500 after September CPI came in at 3.7% against a 3.6% forecast. Odds of a Fed hike at the Oct 27-28 meeting roughly doubled to 44-49%. The 10-year yield climbed to 5.329% Wednesday, and Korea’s Kospi closed down 7.6% after tripping a circuit breaker.
Market Updates
Strive Passes MARA as the No. 4 Corporate Holder
Strive bought 2,822 BTC for about $235M, lifting holdings to 35,595 BTC against MARA's 35,577. CEO Matt Cole said "$208M in warrants exercised" as the raise closed.
Warrant exercises are expected to bring in about $369.2M, and Strive proposed a new 15% preferred (SATS) at $100 per share.
Korea Gets Its First Bitcoin-Backed Bank Loan
Jeonbuk Bank launched won-denominated corporate loans collateralized by Bitcoin. EVP Jeong Sang-hoon called it "an example of designing a risk management and recovery structure."
A registered third-party custodian holds the BTC, and defaults are liquidated through a court-ordered process.
Morgan Stanley Pushes Tokenized Equities to 2027
Morgan Stanley moved its tokenized equities launch to Q1 2027. Digital asset strategy head Amy Oldenburg said "the client demand really isn't there because the product doesn't exist."
The bank is waiting on DTCC's tokenization service, launching at the end of October, and the GENIUS Act taking effect in January.
Why It Matters
Each of these institutions is building the plumbing for Bitcoin and tokenized assets to work as capital. Strive is financing Bitcoin through preferreds, a Korean bank built custody and recovery rails to lend against it, and Morgan Stanley is timing its launch to market infrastructure. The constraint now is plumbing and regulation, and both are arriving within months.
By The Numbers

$303.11B
Total stablecoin market cap slipped 0.60% over seven days, with USDC down 1.43% and USDT dominance at 60.65%.
The Deep Dive

MSCI Draws the Line on Bitcoin Treasuries
The Signal
MSCI, whose indexes passive funds worldwide track, finalized rules on Oct 15 that could drop Strategy and other Bitcoin treasury companies. Removals take effect Nov 30.
Index funds hold about 13M Strategy shares, and JPMorgan estimated in 2025 that removal could trigger about $2.8B in passive outflows. Forced selling could pressure the stock and raise the cost of the equity and preferreds Strategy uses to buy Bitcoin.
What Changed
The rules replace MSCI's interim limit on companies whose digital assets make up 50% or more of total assets with an operating-asset screen plus five financial ratios.
Buffers now apply to the ratio thresholds and to the timing of index changes, which MSCI says is meant "to reduce index turnover."
Current members are removed only after failing the screen in both of their last two annual filings, while non-members that fail in either filing cannot be added.
The Read
Strategy called the consultation "discriminatory, arbitrary, and misguided", and its $4.88B USD Reserve backs its claim that dividends are covered either way.
The Bitcoin Policy Institute argued that "operating assets" is not a standard category under US GAAP or IFRS.MSCI’s screen could exclude companies that call holding Bitcoin their core business.
Strategy's own line: "Index providers should measure markets, not decide which assets companies are allowed to own." The treasury model's cost of capital now depends partly on a committee.
